Employee retention refers to a situation in which employees make the decision to remain retained with their existing employer and stay away from seeking out alternate job opportunities. An employee retention strategy is paramount. It is not an easy task to find the right talent, one with the right education levels, skill sets, and other personality traits that are suited to the organization(Sharma, 2023).

Retention applies to the process taken by organizations to minimize employee turnover, therefore assuring that individuals remain in their current positions and do not voluntarily terminate their employment. Retention rates differ across companies and industries, serving as a metric to quantify the percentage of employees who have chosen to remain working with the organization during a particular time frame.

“Studies prove that when you consistently treat people right, they place salary fourth in priority behind respect purpose, and trust”

– Patricia Hatley.
